Definitions
SportsSport is defined as any professional or leisure-time physical activity requiring vigorous bodily exertion and carried out according to a traditional form or set of rules. Sports safety promotion is defined as a process applied at a local, national and international level by individuals, sports organizations, governments, and others, including professional and amateur sports clubs, to develop and sustain sports safety. This process includes all efforts agreed upon to modify structures, environment (physical, social, technological, political, organizational) as well as attitudes and behaviours related to safety.
Sports injury
Any physical complaint sustained by a person that results from participation in a sports activity, irrespective of the need for medical attention or time loss from the activity.
An injury that results in a person receiving medical attention is referred to as a "medical attention" injury, and an injury that results in a person being unable to take a full part in future training or competition as a "time loss" injury.
